A perspective of SAP BPC vs Oracle Hyperion

In contrast to the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management  ( EPM ) suite, SAP’s EPM suite is the result of several take overs and acquisitions of a number of different companies such as Pilot Software, OutlookSoft, Business Objects (which acquired Cartesis, SRC, and Armstrong Laing), Sybase and Cundus.

The SAP BPC Solution, based on the OutlookSoft product, is often positioned as an “all in one” product that can offer  multiple solutions and address a broad set of EPM requirements from the perspective of strategic planning,  financial planning and budgeting, financial consolidation and reporting, enterprise dimension management as well as management reporting, etc...

In one way some believe that SAP BPC is more of a “none in all” product and doesn’t have the depth of functionality customers typically need, does not enhance communication and transparency in all of these areas and other modules will often be required to fully address customer requirements. This can easily result in a complex horizon of applications which rather than facilitating becomes an overhead for the business.
There is a strong plus points on SAP favor: SAP ERP systems are in general becoming more popular and each customer will feel a more natural choice to select an EPM layer on top of an ERP system which belongs to the same vendor. Naturally the integration of the two is expected to be stronger and with each version more seamlessly.

Top Dimension has a long history of SAP implementations. Our experts are in fact multi specialists, able to implement an SAP stack just as well as the Oracle. Since those vendors are simlar market leaders, in the end the solution they provide are also quite similar in functionality regardless of the technology used on the backgroud.

At Top Dimension we understand how the customer perceives the solution: that is what counts, regardless of the logo.
